Photo Tour of Rolling Thunder 2003
Jerry, Tom, Joe and Gary getting ready to head back out on the road to DC. A little mist never stopped us before! The group, all five of them, ready to roll out in search of the elusive Pentagon parking lot. Without the strict guidelines and demanding schedule of our supervisors, we would have never left on time. After a short "ride" we arrived at Rolling Thunder XVI staging location.

A crowd begins to gather as more bikes file in along the construction barriers in the Pentagon parking lot. On the street outside of the Pentagon parking lot. Thousands of bikes proudly thundered in to show their support. Who said this was going to be exciting? Renee eagerly awaits the start of the parade, now some two hours away. The line of headlights stretch beyond the horizon as hundreds more bikes rumble into queue.

Under shaky skies and back dropped by the Pentagon, our Rolling Thunder crew posses for a picture. Regina is behind the camera...you can't see her. The paint job on this bike is a memorial to all those who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11th 2001. Jerry fixes a piece of plastic on his Honda. That's right it's a Honda, no Harleys required work on this trip. At ten minutes to 12:00PM, the official start time, the parking lot is not nearly as full as past years.

As the first bikes roll out, our group waits patiently under not so welcoming skies. Motorcycle police from around the DC area gather before leading a parade of thousands throught downtown DC. This cool hot dog is dressed to impress! He's ready to head out and see the sites, and what better way to do that then in his owner’s arms. ASMC's 2003 Rolling Thunder XVI crew. LtoR Regina, Jerry, Rose, Mike, Kenny, Tom, Renee and Mike P.

Traveling in the parade a short distance from Arlington National Cemetery. Not even the inclement weather could keep these hardy supports away. Two rows of motorcycles stretching for miles heading into DC. The Lincoln Memorial and George Washington Memorial in the distance. The backdrop is gloomy but the George Washington Monument still looks impressive towering over the Mall. After our journey through the streets of DC we were directed to park in the middle of the street. Needless to say we were a nice hike away from the Wall.

Bikes continue to locate their spots on this street in a DC park. Yes the street did reopen to traffic soon after the parade. Our entire ASMC crew from this years convergence on Washington DC for Rolling Thunder XVI. Despite the weather we were a pretty large group. Arriving back in Long Island after riding for 5 hours in nonstop rain, Tom and Mike P. still manage to smile about it.
